Celebrate All Love on Valentine’s Day, Not Just Love in Couples

Last night, I had the pleasure of seeing two very talented friends do more than share their performances with audiences. Each of them did so with a charitable spin. I love that!

First, FCW Amy Clarke performed at Sidewalk Cafe to raise money for those in Haiti who are still suffering from the catastrophic earthquake. LA has been good to Amy, and I heard it in her voice as she sang and as she spoke. She is more polished and seasoned each time she performs. She is like the perfect dish that has been simmering patiently, awaiting her chance to wow you. She shares her soul, which embodies what our mutual friend and FCW founder, Joanne Morton, identifies as magic, passion and love. (Joanne is the creator of the MPL movement and has her own tour on the horizon. We’ll be sharing more about that in the coming weeks.)

Second, I enjoyed the unique experience of theatre in the intimate space of The Merchants‘ House Museum. My high school friend, Vince Gatton, did what he does so well, playing multiple roles in the tale of a governess to two children in a haunted mansion–much like the one we were in. As I’ve said before, I never tire of seeing Vince perform. It’s becoming my annual Valentine’s Weekend treat. But this show was especially touching because the proceeds help both the museum and the Two Turns Theatre Company.

In a time when I feel that so many of my hard-earned dollars line the pockets of those who already have more than they can fully enjoy, I am thrilled to see my purchases and donations help others like me who struggle yet understand that money is only valuable when shared. If each of us contributes just a little, rather than hoarding in fear, there’s room for everyone to not only survive, but to thrive.

May you find MPL…and share it. 🙂 xo
